National Assembly President Educates MPs on Support Services

PHNOM PENH: National Assembly President Khuon Sodary led an introductory session on November 3 for Members of Parliament on the various support services the National Assembly offers so that they can fulfill their roles effectively in response to the needs of the Cambodian people.

Secretary-General of the National Assembly Leng Penglong, said that the program would be held during every every legislature to provide information to MPs on important services that they can use to assist in the performance of their duties.

President Khuon Sodary stressed that MPs must be effective representatives of the country and truly serve the people by upholding their interests. She added that in order for lawmakers to be able to fulfill their role effectively with the public, it is necessary to receive information on their roles, responsibilities, privileges and support services.

"Obviously, access to such technical information will help MPs to make decisions, especially before the passage of laws that serve the interests of the nation and its people," she said.

Today, there was also a presentation of professional officers, directors-general and heads of departments who are assistants to MPs. The lawmakers received literature on research and support services to assist them in their daily and core duties related to parliamentary rights, obligations, diplomacy, financial protocols, logistics and local services.
